Today we share with you a different article where we show you a very special project in which we are participating.
At Frutas Poveda we are committed with more conscious, sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture. with the environment.
For this reason, we are collaborating with two key entities in our farms: AILIMPO (Interprofessional Association of Lemons and Grapefruit) and ANSE (Asociación de Naturalistas del Sureste Español), in the Agriconciencia project, whose main objective is to reduce the impact of agriculture on the Mar Menor.
What is the Agriconscience Project?
The Agriconciencia Project aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices in southeastern Spain, with special attention to the protection of the Mar Menor .
On our farms, this collaboration has materialized through various actions that show that environmentally friendly agricultural production is possible and effective.
Biodiversity protection: nest boxes and monitoring of
nightjars
One of the most important steps has been the installation of nesting boxes to promote biodiversity and provide shelter for insectivorous birds that help biological pest control.
Among the most special cases is that of a family of nightjars that have nested on our farm. Recently, the eggs hatched and we are now GPS tracking the parents to better understand their flight paths during the day.
Our teams of tractor drivers and pruners have been informed of the exact location of the chickens and act with the utmost care to ensure the safety of this wild family.

Soon, we will also install nesting boxes in the La Roca estate, next to the regional park of El Valle and Carrascoy, in cooperation with ANSEas part of our vision to extend this model of respectful and regenerative agriculture to all our farms.
Regenerative agriculture: planting cover crops
On our farm in Corvera, we carry out the first planting of ground cover between the rows of newly planted trees. We use cereals that help to:
- Retain soil in case of rain, reducing the risk of runoff into the Mar Menor.
- Improve soil health, favoring its structure and nutrients.
- Encourage auxiliary fauna, such as lacewings, which controlled the aphid naturally this year. Thanks to their action, it was not necessary to apply any chemical treatment against this pest.
This result is a clear example that ecological management can also be efficient and profitable.
Our commitment: cultivating while caring for nature
At Frutas Poveda we firmly believe that the future of agriculture lies in the coexistence between production and conservation. Through the Agriconciencia project, and with the support of expert organizations such as AILIMPO and ANSE, we are demonstrating that it is possible to grow quality fruit, such as seedless lemons or stone fruit, without giving up protecting the natural environment around us.
We will continue to share our experiences and progress, thank you for joining us in each new challenge!
